If you have active breakouts, certain skin conditions, or are pregnant, she will let you know and suggest an alternative.
A numbing cream is then applied to the treatment area and left for around 20 to 30 minutes to ensure you are comfortable throughout. Once the skin is numb, Megan uses the microneedling device in slow, methodical passes across the treatment area, adjusting the needle depth as needed for different zones of the face.
The treatment itself typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. Most clients describe the sensation as a mild scratching or vibration rather than pain. Any areas that are slightly more sensitive, such as the forehead or around the nose, may feel more noticeable, but the numbing cream means the overall experience is very well tolerated.
After the treatment, a soothing serum is applied to calm the skin and support the initial healing process. Megan will walk you through your aftercare instructions before you leave, and is available to answer any questions that come up in the days following your treatment.

Over the following four to six weeks, as your body continues to produce new collagen, you’ll notice ongoing improvements in texture, tone and firmness.
Because results build over time rather than appearing overnight, a course of treatments gives the best outcome. Most clients see their most significant improvement after a course of three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. This is why we offer both a single session and a package of three treatments, depending on your goals and budget.
A single microneedling session at SoLuna is a good starting point if you want to try the treatment before committing to a course, or if your skin concern is mild and your skin is generally healthy. The three-session package is recommended if you are targeting more established concerns such as acne scarring, deeper texture issues, or more pronounced fine lines.

The micro-channels created during treatment are open and your skin is in active repair mode, so what you apply to it and how you treat it matters.
Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours after treatment. Your skin needs to breathe and heal, and applying makeup over open micro-channels can introduce bacteria and cause breakouts.
Avoid active skincare ingredients for 48 to 72 hours. This includes retinol, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, and any exfoliating products. These are too strong for freshly treated skin and can cause irritation or damage the healing process.
Avoid heat for 24 to 48 hours, including saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers, and direct sun exposure. Heat increases inflammation and can worsen redness.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Sweating over freshly treated skin can cause irritation and increases the risk of breakouts.
Do keep your skin clean and hydrated. Use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and apply a simple hydrating moisturiser. Megan will recommend specific products suited to your skin if needed.
Do use SPF every day following your treatment. Your skin is more sensitive to UV damage after microneedling and sun protection is essential to protect your results and prevent pigmentation.
Do contact us if you have any concerns. Some redness, dryness and mild flaking in the days after treatment is completely normal and part of the healing process. If you experience prolonged redness beyond 72 hours, significant swelling, or any signs of infection, contact Megan directly.
